Bahir Dar University STEM Incubation Center is one of the center in Ethiopia higher education. The center is a public center that accepts teaches students from grade 9 to greade 12. The center accomplished the following activities or tasks: Science Shared Campus, STEM Outreach program, STEM Project, Girls Camp, Kids Program, Laboratory sessions and Gardening.
The Science Shared Campus offers STEM subjects from Grade 9 to Grade 12. The Subjects given in the Science Shared Campus are Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, ICT (Computer Science), English, and Technical Drawing. The social sicence courses are covered by Shumabo Seconday School (a public school in the vicinity of 50 meters).
The center accepts talented students based on merit. After the preselection process the students who achieved good results in science, maths, and English at grade 7 & 8 will seat for the center entrance exam and the top 50 students will be taken.
Assignments require students to work both independently and collaboratively, to understand methods of inquiry that promote divergent thinking and creativity, and to embrace uncertainty as an opportunity for innovation.
Students take regular tests to assess knowledge. They also frequently complete projects that apply their knowledge in concrete ways and present these projects to each other and experts from within and outside the University Community. Top projects are selected and warded in the local science fair competition and the three top projects in each department represent the cent at national science fair competition.
Curriculum
The center meets and builds on Ethiopian National Curriculum standards and prepare our students for outstanding results on the national exams and further study at the best colleges and universities in the world.
The center is awarded a prize (by the Prime Minister of Ethiopia) for the last two consecutive years (2021/22022, 2002/2023) being one of the top schools who passed all the students on the national examination.
