Research Grant Secured
- EENSAT (Ethiopian Educational Network to Support Agricultural Transformation) secured 2.2 million Euros fund from NUFFIC in 2016. It is for capacity building, grant for laboratory facilities and PhD scholarships.
- CRS (Catholic Relief Services), Ethiopia 2016: Grant obtained for impact assessment of the Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction Project in Benishangul Gumuz in Ethiopia (we secured 180,000 Ethiopian Birr).
- Forum for Social Studies (FSS), Ethiopia 2016: 480,000 birr grant secured (as a co-investigator) for the study of Land Landlessness and Poverty in Amhara region of Ethiopia.
- GIS4EA project devoted for capacity building since 2014 (DAAD). Eight academic staff and nine postgraduate students trained in Germany and D.R.Congo.
- PARI (Programme for Accompanying Research in Innovation), Ghana, 2015: Inventory of Agricultural Innovations, to study Agricultural Innovation Platforms and National and international investment on agricultural innovation and its impact on food and nutrition security in Ethiopia. I secured 30, 000 dollars and produced three publishable documents with colleagues.
- SEI (Stockholm Environmental Institute), Sweden 2014: Grant for development and analysis of scenario narratives for natural resources management for sustainable food and energy production in the Lake Tana and Tala Beles region. (We secured 40,000 dollars) and published two articles on reputable journals.
- Research Grant from OXFAM Canada, 2013, Assessment of Disaster risks and Indigenous coping mechanisms in south western Parts of Ethiopia (we secured 240,000 Ethiopian Birr). We produced a document for practitioners at local level)
- Capacity Building for Food Security experts, USAID in 2012. Training experts in Using GIS and Remote Sensing in Disaster Risk assessment and development activities (we secured 250,000 Ethiopian Birr).
Major accomplishments
- Served as chair for national committee for all Ethiopia public universities to construct job description for academic and administrative staffs.
- Coordinate Bahir Dar University greenery beautification projects, which is one of the few universities to be visited.

- Coordinated the selection of African Science and Technology Advisory Group (AfSTAGDRR) and African Youth Advisory Board for DRR) AYAB-DRR. 22-23 April 2019, Addis, Ethiopia.
- Conduct trainings on Lobby and Advocacy for Jerusalem Children and Community Development Organization (JeCCDO) Civil Society organizations from March 20-22, 2018.

- Coordinate GIS and Remote Sensing trainings since 2016 in Germany, Congo and Ethiopia in GIS4EA project in collaboration with Beuth Technical University of Berlin. The project helps BDU staff capacity building.
- Communicated European commission for crop yield estimation training at national Level.
The JRC conducted two round trainings at BDU and ATA.

- Conduct 10 days GIS, Remote Sensing and GPS trainings to Amhara regional bureau of agriculture experts, regional food security and disaster risk management office experts: in
2012 sponsored by USAID-CIAFS
- Delivered Training on EGS program and PRA and LLPPA for Development Agents, focusing on watershed delineation and development since 2002. He was assigned in south Gondar Administrative region, Libo Kemkem Woreda.
- Delivered training on Productive safety Net Program.
- Organize watershed planning activities using PRA, LLPPA and CDDA (community driven development approach of EU) tools (Libo Kemkem woreda of South Gondar Zone).
- Participated in the translation and edition of Amhara Regional State beneficiary targeting manual for Emergency intervention.
- Conducted research entitled “Investigation of Disaster Risk and Indigenous Coping
Mechanisms: The Case of Benishangul Gumuz Regional State”
- Served as member and focal person for data collection and consultancy service in “Social Network Analysis of Stakeholders in Blue Nile/Lake Tana Basin” conducted by SEI (Stockholm Environmental Institute).
- Act as head of Food security and Disaster Prevention Desk Head at woreda level (from March 2003 to 2005).
