2. Biography
Menberu Tadese Tekuare is a dedicated development economist and lecturer specializing in gender and socio-economic development. He holds a M.Sc. in Development Economics from the Ethiopian Civil Service University (2022) and a B.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from Mekelle University (2017), both with distinction.
With five years of experience in research, teaching, and agricultural development, Menberu is currently a Lecturer at Bahir Dar University in the Gender and Development Studies Department. His research interest focuses on gender and livelihood, nutrition, health, economy, agriculture, climate change, food security, and poverty, aiming to promote inclusive and sustainable development.
Previously, he worked as a Socio-Economic Researcher at Sekota Dry Land Agriculture Research Centre, analyzing agricultural development trends and providing policy recommendations. He also served as an Agricultural Input Distribution Monitoring & Evaluation Expert at Gazgibla Woreda Agriculture Office (2018–2021), overseeing input distribution efficiency and sustainability.
Menberu is skilled in quantitative and qualitative analysis, project management, and gender-sensitive development. Proficient in STATA, SPSS, and CSPro, he has also undergone leadership and management training with VECOD.
Passionate about research-driven policy solutions, Menberu actively contributes to addressing key economic and agricultural challenges in Ethiopia. Fluent in Amharic and English, he is an effective communicator dedicated to academic excellence, research, and community development.
3. Teaching Experience
- I have three years of teaching experience as a Lecturer at Bahir Dar University, in the Gender and Development Studies Department (Since December 2022 – present).
4. Research interests
My research interests focus on gender and development, particularly in livelihoods, nutrition, health, economy, agriculture, climate change, food security, and rural-urban development, with the goal of promoting inclusive and sustainable development. I am also interested in agricultural economics and rural development, including agricultural productivity and efficiency, rural development and agrarian transformation, agricultural market analysis and value chains, food security and sustainable agriculture, climate change impacts on agriculture, agricultural policy and rural livelihoods, farm management and agribusiness, agricultural finance and credit access, technology adoption in agriculture, and land tenure and land use policies. Additionally, my research extends to development economics, covering poverty reduction and income inequality, economic growth and sustainable development, gender and economic empowerment, rural and urban economic development, labor markets and employment policies, health, education, and human capital development, financial inclusion and microfinance, trade and globalization impacts on developing economies, infrastructure and economic transformation, and public policy and economic resilience.
