Department of Chemical and Food Engineering

Biography/Profile Summary

Dr. Tadesse Fenta is a researcher and educator in the Faculty of Chemical and Food Engineering at the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. He received his PhD in Biochemical Engineering in March 2026, which was conducted in collaboration with Bahir Dar University (BDU) and the University of Cambridge-led MillNET_i project (Grant Ref: BB/S013954) to combat iron deficiency anemia (IDA). He also holds an M.Sc. in Food Engineering from the Addis Ababa Institute of Technology, Addis Ababa University (2014), and a B.Sc. in Food and Biochemical Technology from Bahir Dar University (2009). His research mainly focuses on areas related to food processing and nutrition. His recent work covers the effects of phytochemicals on anticancer mechanisms, as well as in vivo digestibility tests for both protein and starch; moreover, it validates the absorption of key minerals from cereal-based traditional staple foods. In addition to his research and teaching activities, he has collaborated with local food processing industries and actively participated in numerous committee activities at both the institutional and faculty levels within the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University.
