Dr. Koyachew Enkuahone Kassie is an Ethiopian national with a Ph.D. in Development Studies, specializing in Rural Development, from Addis Ababa University, College of Development Studies, Center for Rural Development. He also holds a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Environmental Studies from Addis Ababa University and Debre Markos University, respectively. Dr. Koyachew is a certified higher education trainer with a Higher Diploma Program (HDP) license from the Ministry of Education, granted by Wolaita Sodo University in 2012.

Throughout his academic journey, Dr. Koyachew has taken a variety of professional courses and training in physical geography, development studies (with a focus on rural development), and project management.

Dr. Koyachew previously worked as a lecturer and assistant professor at Wolaita Sodo University from July 2011 to September 2020. Since October 2020, he has been serving as an associate professor of Development Studies at Bahir Dar University, College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences in department of Rural Development and Agricultural Extension. He is currently an academic Vice Dean of the college. Additionally, he has worked as both a permanent and part-time academic staff member at various private institutions, such as YOM Postgraduate College, where he teaches in the department of project planning and management. In these roles, he has taught numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students, in addition to advising BA, MA/MSc, and PhD students on their research and projects.

Dr. Koyachew has conducted research and led community service projects on a wide range of topics, including climate change, climate-smart agriculture, climate vulnerability and adaptation strategies, solid waste management, irrigation agriculture, food security, poverty reduction, crop choice decisions, and cluster farming. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals. His primary research interests encompass the analysis of Agriculture, poverty, food security, resilience, the adoption of technologies, the impact evaluation of projects and programs, livelihoods, climate change, and other development-related issues.

In addition to his academic career, Dr. Koyachew manages his own licensed research and training consultancy firm, specializing in economic development, business, and investment consulting. He has been involved in various consultancy activities in areas such as rural development programs, project preparation and management, project evaluation, livelihood resilience, food security, poverty reduction, climate change and vulnerability, watershed management, market and value chain development, and urban planning and development.
