Background:
I was born in a small village called Damble in 1978. I attended primary and secondary education at the nearby towns, Yechereka and Dembecha respectively. In 1997 I joined Addis Ababa University to study foreign languages and literature (English) in BA program. After graduation, in 2000 I went to Gambella to work for the regional investment office as promotion and public relations officer. After three years service, the office granted me a postgraduate scholarship in Addis Ababa University and earned an MA degree in TEFL in 2005. The same year, just right after graduation, I joined Bahir Dar University to serve as lecturer of English. Three years later, I got a PhD scholarship program in Addis Ababa University and spent four years to accomplish my study. In 2012, I graduated from the University, Addis Ababa University, with a PhD degree in English as a foreign language teacher education. Now I am working for Bahir Dar University as an assistant professor and a coordinator of English Language & literature program.

Current Teaching:
Currently, I am offering courses of graduate programme such as professional skills for English language teachers, syllabus and material design, research methods in foreign language education, seminar in foreign language education and English for mariners. Undergraduate program courses like basic writing skills, spoken English, advanced speech, written and spoken communication, report writing and research methodology.
Research Interest:
I am interested in doing research into English as foreign language teachers’ professional development, English language pedagogy (writing instruction, classroom management, collaborative learning), language acquisition (learning motivation, perception, communication skills and proficiency, error analysis), and curriculum design and development.

Community Engagement:
Together with another colleague, Dawit Amogne, I have offered short term training on English language pedagogy to high school English teachers forthe last two to three months.
Supervision Interests:
I am interested in supervising research works on English language pedagogy, EFL teachers’ professional development, writing instruction, research and report writing, communication skills and strategies, and English language acquisition and perceptions.
