Dear Students and Colleagues,

I am honored to serve as the Head of the Physics Department—a community dedicated to exploring the fundamental laws and mysteries of the universe. Our department is a place of discovery, where faculty members and students work together in the pursuit of scientific knowledge and innovation.

As we continue to push the boundaries of understanding, I encourage everyone to engage in the study of physics with curiosity, dedication, and enthusiasm. Together, we will unravel the secrets of the universe and make meaningful contributions to science and society.

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Hold the rank of Assistant Professor or above, unless exceptional circumstances apply.
  • Serve as a member of the Academic Council (AC).
  • Implement and follow up on decisions made by the Department Council (DC).
  • Chair the Department Council.
  • Establish and oversee the Department Graduate Council.
  • Develop and manage the department’s strategic development plan.
  • Participate in the academic unit’s strategic planning processes.
  • Develop relevant academic programs and oversee their effective delivery.
  • Develop, manage, and periodically revise the department’s curriculum.
  • Communicate academic program matters to the Vice Dean.
  • Prepare class schedules in consultation with the Vice Dean, as required.
  • Provide orientation and induction programs for students and staff.
  • Ensure access to up-to-date guidelines, handbooks, and academic resources.
  • Conduct continuous assessment, program evaluation, and graduate follow-up, and provide feedback.
  • Monitor and support course chairs.
  • Ensure timely completion of performance appraisals for academic staff.
  • Develop and implement seminar programs that expose students to research activities.
  • Formulate a clear vision aligned with departmental and institutional goals.
  • Plan, implement, and report on departmental teaching, research, and community service activities.
  • Promote teamwork in addressing departmental and institutional challenges.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with other departments.
  • Ensure the availability and proper utilization of necessary academic resources.
  • Develop and implement tools to improve student academic performance.
  • Address students’ academic challenges in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Assign academic advisors and course chairs.
  • Ensure timely submission and approval of grades to the Registrar’s Office.
  • Establish examination committees and develop examination banks to ensure quality assessment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean/Director or Vice Dean.
