land administartion and surveying department

The department of land administration has established at Bahir Dar University in September 2006 under the faculty of Law. Since 2008 the department is under the Institute of Land Administration(ILA). The Department  has been established with the broader objectives  of producing adequately trained land administration professionals who will serve their community, as generalists rather than specialists, with various skills: cadastral surveying, land law, real estate valuation and registration , dispute resolution, computer mapping, and to strengthen the qualification and man power capacity of the personnel in environmental protection land administration and use authorities, municipalities, counseling and advisory departments and other institutions engaged in land related activities.

Land administration is an interdisciplinary field composed of four tracks: Economics, Law, land administration and surveying (geodesy and Geo informatics). Currently it enrolled about 160 students in the regular program. On the basis of the demand from the community the department wishes to launch various long- term and short- term training programs.
