    Biography

  • I have received my MA and Ph.D. in Environment and Natural resource management. Currently, he is full-time lecturers in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. I have been teaching several geography courses and has engaged in different research projects. Committed and skilled professional with over 15 years of experience. Strong educational foundation combined with extensive expertise in Environment and natural resource management, climate change, disaster prevention, food security issues, and in GIS, and Remote Sensing analysis. Possesses outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities, and excels in collaborative works to reach shared objectives.

    Educational Background

  • From 1992 – 1995 E.C. a student in Horomaya University in Regular program and graduated with Bachlor of Education in Geography.
    • I have taken Eleven pedagogical courses with 30 credit hours 
  • In 2006 E.C a Higher Diploma Program (HDP) as a license for a professional teacher educator from Bhir Dar University.
  • From 2011-2012 a student in Addis Ababa University for post graduate program in faculty of social science department of geography and environmental studies in Geography and Environmental Studies (Environment and Natural Resource and Management stream)- Regular Program.
  • On August 2022 received  PhD in Bahir Dar university in the field of Geography and Environmental Studies (Specialization Environment and Natural Resource Management) 

    Professional Experience (18 years in teaching)

  • From July 1995 – Jun 1997 E.C. geography  teacher in Facledes Preparatory School, Gondar
  • From Jun 1997 E.C. an instructor in social science department at Gondar College of Teachers Education
  • Form September 2007 – September 2008 E.C serving as a Department Head in Social Science Department, Gondar College of Teachers Education
  • Ample experience in writing modules for different geography courses.
  • From September 2008 E.C – September 15, 2009 a lecturer in Woldia University
  • From 16 September 2009 E.C and on a lecturer in Bahir Dar University
  • From 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016, & 2017 serving as a tutor and a leader for Teachers training in Higher Diploma program (HDP) in different campuses of Bahir Dar University
  • From 16/01/2009 – 08/03/2012 E.C course chair for different physical geography courses 
  • From August 01/12/2014 – September 01/01/2017 E.C serving as  a department head in the department of geography and environmental studies

    Research Interest

  • I have keen research interests on issues of environment and natural resource management, climate change and variability: modeling, prediction and mapping extremes (Drought), livelihood and food security analysis, and disaster risk managements. Modeling land use land cover dynamics, and water resource analysis.

  • From 18th – 24th May 2019: Giving training on: School-based Action Research, Educational Evaluation and Active Learning Teaching methodologies” for Abune Bernabas Bazabizuhan Primary School Teachers (certificate obtained).
  • On June 2022: Giving training on “Map making and Interpretation for Secondary School Teachers in Bahir Dar and Its Surrounding” (certificate obtained).

  • From 31 December to 04 January, 2020: completed training on “ Climate Data Analysis and Geographic Visualization using MATLAB” conducted by Geospatial Data and Technology Center, Bahir Dar University (certificate obtained). 
  • From April 12-16, 2024: Completed a five-day training on “Peace Education” delivered by Bahir Dar University in partnership with the Birtish Council and the European Union (certificate obtained).
  • From February 21 – 22, 2024: Completed a training on “Research Ethics Review and SOP participation by Bahir Dar University (certificate obtained).
  • From March 04 to February 27, 2024: completed a “Master Class Training” Foundations for Excellence in Teaching Online by Bahir Dar University in Collaboration with Arizona University (certificate obtained).
