ReachAnother Foundation (RAF) and Operation Eyesight Universal-Canada (OES) win Best Partner of the Year Award of College of Medicine and Health Sciences.

(October 25, 2021, Bahir Dar): ReachAnother Foundation (RAF), a public benefit non-profit organization that provides capacity-building knowledge and technologies that have changed hearts and minds, and instilled compassion and competence into the conversation of how to address neural tube defects, and Operation Eyesight Universal-Canada (OES), an international development organization working to prevent blindness and restore sight, have won Best Partner of the year Award, 2020/2021 of College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Bahir Dar University.

The two partners have been selected for their exemplary and extraordinary collaborations with the college/Tibebe Ghion Specialized Hospital (TGSH), Bahir Dar .

RAF has supported life-saving surgeries of more than 7500 Ethiopian children with hydrocephalus and spina bifida in the last 10 years; and taking the lead in the effort to establish center of excellence in Pediatric Neurosurgery Unit at Tibebe Ghion Specialized Hospital (TGSH), Bahir Dar University. RAF has provided direct and indirect support worth of more than 300, 000 USD to Bahir Dar University.

OEU, one of the top 10 international impact charities of Canada in 2020, has been making a global impact by restoring sight and preventing blindness for people in developing countries including Ethiopia. OES has taken the lion’s share of the endeavors in the establishment of Eye Clinic at TGSH to strengthen the capacity of the clinic and, and support the effort to improve eye health-seeking behavior and empowerment of communities to take responsibility for their eye health needs.

OEU has provided direct and indirect support, worth of more than 37,000USD, to Bahir Dar University, and also established a secondary eye unit at Injibara General Hospital through Bahir Dar University.

Their tremendous contributions to the college’s effort in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic have also been palpable and commendable.
