Agricultural Biotechnology division 

The Division of Agricultural Biotechnology at the BDU-IoB is mandated to train high-caliber graduate students and researchers in the area of agricultural biotechnology. The division is dedicated to conducting cutting-edge research and development activities to solve nationally important agricultural problems, contributing towards improved agricultural production and productivity in a sustainable manner. The division aspires to be at the forefront in discovery, applying principles of biotechnology to unravel complex biological processes in agriculture as well as product development.

Research Focus Areas

  • Plant Biotechnology (marker-assisted breeding, genome editing, plant tissue culture, molecular biology, omics)
  • Animal Biotechnology (reproductive biotechnology, animal genomics and genetics, disease resistance, nutritional biotechnology, and the development of animal bioreactors)
  • Fish Biotechnology (genetic improvement, disease control, environmental management, and biodiversity conservation)
