Space and Atmospheric Sciences Unit (SASU)
Mon, 06/19/2017 - 10:39
This unit works on two part of the Earth's atmosphere; the equatorial lower atmosphere and the upper atmosphere. The research by the lower atmopshere group focuses on understanding what drives the Ethiopian climate with a major emphasis on the drivers of precipitation using weather radar, raingauage and satellite observations.
The research activities of space science group include modeling and observation of the equatorial ionosphere with a major focus on Ethiopian ionospheric sector. Empirical, semi-Emprical and physics based models are investigated to characterize the unique behaviors of the ionosphere. VHF radar, GPS receivers, Galileo recievers, Fabry-Perot interferometer.
