Indonesian Ambassador Makes Official Visit to BDU

The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Ethiopia, Al Busyra Basnur, has made an official visit to Bahir Dar University yesterday 25 April/2019.

In this official visit his Excellency, Ambassador Al Busyra, with the other 5 members of the delegation has met members of the BDU Top Management members and Leaders of some academic units of the university. At the discussion made as part of the visit the Ambassador expressed his appreciation to Bahir Dar University for being the first Ethiopian University to visit Universities in the Republic of Indonesia and this has created special interest from the side of the Indonesian Government to work particularly with Bahir Dar University.

‘’My visit to Bahir Dar University,’’ said the Ambassador,’’ is to discuss ways on how the already established partnership between Bahir Dar University and University of Sebelas Maret, Indonesia can be translated into action and to initiate deliberation on how BDU can create partnership with many other universities in Indonesia.’’

After the face-to-face discussion with BDU management members and academic leaders of the university, the delegation led by the Ambassador made site visits to different academic units in different campuses of Bahir Dar University.

Following a visit (by BDU delegation) to some Universities in the Republic of Indonesia, Bahir Dar University established partnership and signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with University of Sebelas Maret (UND) in April 2016 on Biotechnology and related sciences. Moreover, the Embassy of the Republic offered a non-degree scholarship for 11 people from Bahir Dar the majority of whom were taken from the Bahir Dar city.
