Conference Held

Science College holds its 7th annual science conference from 22-23 February, 2019.

The college has undertaken its annual science conference under the theme: ”Scientific Research, Innovation and Quality Education to Solve Societal Problems” for two days.

In the conference, forty oral and ten posters were presented. The conference was enriched with two key note speeches by scholars with vast experience in science and research. The external keynote speaker was Professor Birhanu Abegaz, a distinguished visiting Professor and researcher working at the university of Johannesburg, and Dr Ayalew Wonde, who is recently known for his deep concern and scholarly contribution in the fight against water hyacinth, was the internal keynote speaker. Dr Ayalew in his keynote speech emphasized on the danger that lies on Lake Tana, the water hyacinth. Dr Ayalew stressed the need for a more coordinated and collaborated action in controlling , if not eradicating, the spread of water hyacinth.

In the conference, the guest of honor of the conference, Dr Yilkal Kefale, Head of the Amhara Regional State Education Bureau, the president of Bahir Dar University, Dr Firew Tegegne,  Ato Yihealem Abebe, invited guest for motivational speech to the parallel event conducted with high school students,  staff members, invited guests and students has participated.

In the conference, Bahir Dar University awarded an adjunct professorship to Professor Birhanu Abegaz.
