Bahir Dar University wins quality award

BDU:The Ethiopian Quality Award Organization (EQA) has awarded BahirDar University for its excellence in the quality of its t-learning, research and community services.

During this Third Quality Award Ceremony which took place on Saturday, 24 May, 2014 at the Sheraton Addis Hotel, the University has been honored with excellence for its outstanding performance and received a trophy from the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, his Excellency, Dr. Mulatu Teshome.

The university has been awarded the trophy for its excellence after passing a series of phases in the competition which involved the institutional self assessment based on the Self Assessment Manual sent from the Ethiopian Quality Award (EQA) organization, onsite visit and assessment of the university by the technical committee from the organization, EQA, and the final verdict by the 22 member jury from the organization, EQA.

In this competition for quality award, the core processes of Bahir Dar University- t-learning, research and community services as well as all support processes have been assessed with respect to several criteria which are classified into seven broad categories: Leadership, Process Management, Policy and Strategy, Resource Management, Customer Satisfaction/Focus, Organizational Performance and Impact on Society.

In this Third Ethiopian Quality Award competition, a total of 52 governmental and non-governmental institutions and/or organizations took part and 12 were honored with the prestigious excellence award and received trophies.
