Bahir Dar University is ready to launch Research Information Management System – RIMS

Bahir Dar University, BDU, is currently engaged on important research activities with a goal to be one of the Top 10 Research Universities in Africa by 2025. With this mission the university is working on the quality of its research along with increasing research visibility to the greater world. For the last two years the Research and Community Service Vice President Office has been working to support research activities with a Current Research Information System to facilitate, preserve, disseminate, reach the academic society, and identify better collaboration and career opportunities for researchers.

In the framework of the VLIR-UOS project and in collaboration with 4Science, www.4science.it, an organization supporting DSpace-CRIS worldwide, the ICT Directorate of BDU, a core component  engaged in supporting teaching, learning, the library, and business and administration activities of the university, worked to gather with the Research and Community Service Office on implementing the Research Information Management System – RIMS for the university’s research ecosystem as a whole.

Our partners from VLIR-UOS: 4Science, Ghent University, and IRD-Institut de recherche pour le développement, have been working with the ICT Directorate and RCS Office on refining the BDU’s Open Access Policy for RIMS in December 2019.  In the near feature the Research Information Management System - RIMS will be launched to play a relevant role for Bahir Dar University.
