The Office of the Vice President for Information and Strategic Communication has been organized in accordance with the business process reengineering as one of the new business processes at Bahir Dar University. There are four case teams under the office. These are:
- External Relations and Partnership
- Internal Relation and Communication,
- System Design and Development
- System and Database Administration.
Among other things, the office carries out the following activities:
- handles internal and external communication,
- issues newsletters, brochures, and flyers,
- holds press conferences, and provides information to guests
- creates links with other universities,
- updates BDU’s website and posts news and announcements,
- prepares profiles of BDU,
- ensures fast internet connection throughout BDU,
- oversees the provision of efficient and modern library services.
Objective of the Office for Information and Strategic Communication
The general objective the Office for Information and Strategic Communication of the University is :
To establish all internal and external relations with relevant customers; to provide timely information for all stakeholders and to build and promote the image of the University in order to realize its purposes.
In this regard, the Office identifies 4 groups of customers or stakeholders, with the following specific communication objectives:
1. The external stakeholders
The external stakeholders(such as foreign universities, government and non-government organizations, individuals, federal and state actors have a clear picture of the possibilities, strong points, plans and developments of Bahir Dar University
2. The students
The students receive timely and accurate information on the teaching and research activities and the rules and regulations that apply to them, about the campus facilities, which assists them in achieving excellent academic results and having a safe, healthy and interesting campus life.
3. The academic and administrative staff
The staff has received accurate, timely, relevant and attractive information that assists them in being dedicated, efficient and effective employees.
4. The management
The administrative and academic management has received the information it needs to realize the strategic and operational goals of the university so that the teaching and research process are executed well.
