Dean’s Message
Hello! Welcome to the Website for the Faculty of Humanities at Bahir Dar University. I encourage you to explore our programs and learn more about us.
The Faculty of Humanities is a gateway to understanding human activity, thought, reason, and the communication of ideas. At present, the Faculty offers four undergraduate degree programs (Journalism and Communications, English Language and Literature, Folklore (Cultural studies), and Ethiopian Languages and Literature-Amharic).
Our undergraduate programs prepare students to pursue graduate study or a career that requires advanced critical thinking and communication skills. We augment what is learned in class by providing practical experiences so that our students can integrate theory with practice which in turn strengthens the knowledge base required for their profession. In the Faculty of Humanities we bring education to life.
In addition, we offer six postgraduate programs including Doctoral Degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language; our graduate program students develop a focused depth of knowledge in their field of study to adapt their knowledge and skills of professional endeavours across a wide spectrum. Programs in the Faculty of Humanities set the stage for lifelong learning.
Please browse through the websites of our Faculty to find more information on specific degree offerings in a wide range of academic areas and achieve your professional aspirations.
If you have any questions about how our programs can help you meet your personal, professional and academic goals, please do not hesitate to e-mail or call us. The contact address is given below.
