Workshop on private seed producers held
BDU: Bahir Dar University College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences recently conducted a workshop on “private sector initiative to support small and medium scale seed producers.’’
Explaining the objective, BDU’s Integrated Seed Sector Development Program Coordinator Dr.Tadesse Desalegn noted that the workshop was meant to exchange ideas on problems and Solutions of seed production which in turn would help to increase agriculture production at regional level.
While welcoming the participants, BDU’s Vice President for Research and Community Services Dr.Tesfaye Shiferaw noted that seeds are major input in farming stressing that the university would provide training, hold consultative and research meetings as well as suggesting ways that would improve agricultural sector productivity.
According to the Vice Dean Dr.Belayneh Ayele,the workshop was fruitful in disseminating new ideas and experience to participants.
Participants were drawn from Integrated Seed Sector Development’s head office, Amhara National Regional State Seed Research Centre, Amhara National Regional State Agriculture Bureau, Amhara National Regional State Private Seed Producers Association and Ethiopia Seed Enterprise.
