FACULTY HOLDS CONSULTATIVE MEETING
BDU: The University’s Faculty of Educational and Behavioural Sciences conducted a consultative meeting to enhance the capacity of School mentors drawn from Amhara and Benishangul Gumuz National Regional State Secondary Schools, respectively.
Addressing the participants, the Dean, Faculty of Educational and Behavioural Sciences, Melikam Zewudu, noted that the meeting would familiarize school mentors, Teachers’ development experts at Regional, Zonal and District(Woreda) level with modalities of implementing Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching( PGDT) Programme at secondary schools, stressing that the training would ensure effectiveness of PGDT Programme in supporting students who would be attached to various secondary schools to undergo their practical training.
While outlining the objective of the meeting with the various stakeholders and mentors, the PGDT Coordinator Dawit Tibebu pointed out that the training would help Mentors and other stakeholders to be acquainted with their duties and responsibilities and identify ways of overcoming possible challenges that would slow down the effectiveness of the programme.
On the emergence of an informed society as a challenge to the existing teaching and learning system, Dawit told participants that teaching at the era of digital literacy needed to be upped, in line with the existing realities on the ground that required the knowledge and skill of teaching a meaningful lesson.
