Background

I attended my elementary and secondary school education at Dil Chibo and Tana Haik schools respectively. I completed my first degree (in English)  from Bahir Dar University in 1993 E.C (2001G.C.). Since then I have been working in the Department of English (at BDU) from the rank of Graduate Assistant to Assistant Professor. Generally, I have worked in the University for more than twelve years. In these years, I have served the University at different positions including the Head of English Department for two years. Since April 2013 G.C I am working as the Dean of Faculty of Humanities.

Qualification

    • PhD in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)
    • M.A in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)
    • B.Ed in English.

Current Teaching

    • I currently teach TEFL courses (Theories and Approaches in Language Teaching, Graduate Seminar
    • I&II) to Graduate and Basic Writing Skills to Undergraduate students.

Research Interest

    • Language Learning Strategies, Learning Styles, Wash-back, and Teacher Development Program (TDP).

Community Engagement

    • I gave training to private-owned secondary school English teachers on how to use textbooks

effectively.

Supervision Interests

    • I am interested in supervising research works on Language Learning Strategies, Learning Styles, Wash-back, Language Testing and Assessment, and Teacher Development Program (TDP).

4. The Relationship between Students’ Perceptual Learning Style Preference and Language Learning Anxiety.

5. Effects of Collaborative Learning on Students’ English Reading Skills.

6. EFL Teachers’ and Students’ Beliefs and Classroom Practice of Inductive Grammar Teaching
