Description of the Program:

This graduate program strives to produce individuals who can serve as teachers in institutions of higher learning. It aims to help teachers in improving their educational qualification and, thereby, enabling them to handle higher level courses in Ethiopian Universities. Moreover, the program promotes intensive research in the fields of language and literature. It also has the goal to boost up the currently existing academic enthusiasm among the students and teachers of language and literature.

Eligibility criteria:

 The following are admission requirements to Master of Arts in Literature (in English):

1. Applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university.

2. Applicants should have a minimum of CGPA of 2.00 in undergraduate courses.

3. Applicants should submit letters of recommendation, two from their undergraduate 

    instructors and one from a referee who is familiar with the applicant’s professional  

    work.

4. Applicants should pass the entrance examination set by the Department of English, 

    Bahir Dar University.

5. Applicants should present official transcripts of their academic record from each  

    university attended, to be sent directly to the University from the issuing institutions.

6. Applicants should present a proof of financial support

7. Applicants should fulfill requirements set by the university.

Tuition Fee:

Applicants may be organization-sponsored or self-sponsored. Both the organization-and self-sponsored applicants will pay fee for education and research based on the University’s by-laws.
