 Admission requirements

Entry to the program would be in line with the university admission requirementsincluding:

  • successful completion of the preparatory program;
  • a satisfactory result in the higher education entrance examination;
  • a good mastery of English language ; and
  • a CGPA of 2.00 and above in the diploma program for advanced standing students from any recognized institution

Objectives of the program

General Objectives

The general objective of the program is:

  • To train English language professionals who can use English in their day to day activities—in translation, interpretation, editing, public relations and other communication--related jobs.

Specific Objectives

The program has the following specific objectives:

  • to train English language professionals such as public relation officers and translators who would be serving in governmental, non-governmental and international organisations;
  • to train English language professionals who can conduct research in the areas of English language and literature, public relations, translation, etc; and
  • to train English language professionals who can provide consultancy and training to organisations which need services in  English .

Graduation Requirement

On completion of the program, graduates would have the following competences and can:

  • use English with high level of  accuracy and fluency in English (listening , speaking, reading, and writing);
  • prepare seminars, forums and facilitate discussions and meetings in English ;
  • use appropriate English for business communication(writing memos, letters, minutes and communications);
  • translate from and into the English language;
  • write, edit, review various texts such as newspapers, journals, and other media; and conduct studies and research in their career
