Biography

I completed my high school in 1996 G.C and Joined Biology department at Addis Ababa University in 1997G.C. After graduation I worked as a high school teacher for about two years. During that time I involved myself in various activities (teaching, head of the department and chair man of Anti- HIV club. Because of the motivation that I had for learning I joined the same university for my MSc studies and did my thesis on plankton dynamics in the offshore and littoral zones of Lake Ziway, one of the shallowest lakes in the country. Then after, I joined Bahir Dar University and worked there as an instructor for three years. Like football I did hat-trick by doing my PhD in the same university and graduated in 2013. My PhD work mainly focused on the use of benthic macroinvertebrates especially that of larval chironomids as indicators of water quality. Moreover, during my PhD study I got the chance to meet outstanding scholars in the field of chironomids taxonomy (Dr. Hilde Eggermont and Prof.Dr.Dirk Verschuren), at Ghent University, Belgium. These two prominent scientists shaped me like a pencil and leave unforgettable experience in my memory.
