Job summary of CoBE, Course Manager/Course Chair

    • Building and updating course system knowledge database,
    • generating and developing secondary and local course knowledge; designing and organizing course deliverables;
    • designing and developing standards and modes of delivery; delivering orientations, lectures, and other selected presentations ;
    • developing course guide book ;preparing exams and assignments; supervising tutors;
    • Grading students academic deliverables and project presentations; availing reference materials in different ways; serve as course representative and authority in external and internal affairs, design and deliver audio-video and text course materials, opinion maker.

Duties and responsibilitof CoBE, Course Manager/Course Chair

    • Set academic and research goals for the course system

      • Identify trends, developments in the knowledge industry with specific focus on her or his stream
      • Identify local knowledge needs and gaps in the specific stream
      • Specify research and academic targets and goals : new areas of knowledge and discovery, research works etc

      Building and managing course system knowledge database

      • Designing, and developing course knowledge database in electronic and other non electronic formats
      • Developing secondary knowledge: continuously follow up course related knowledge and literature developments, identify and access research publications, journals, books, websites, and other media to learn new material and update and renovate course system knowledge database.
      • Form local and international knowledge development and sharing partnerships with media, think tank groups, institutions, university departments and subject matter authorities and practitioners
      • Generating and developing local knowledge: Identify course related local knowledge gaps, problems, events; and conduct case researches and formal research projects to generate new knowledge, solutions, Conduct case researches and applied and academic research projects ;Analyse, interpret findings and develop new insights and recommendations ;and fill knowledge gaps and feed course knowledge database with new research outputs
      • updating course knowledge database with new cases, research outputs, commentaries, references ,publications etc : Review, modify new material and convert it in to local versions; Customize new research knowledge in to course database and course deliverables format Learn materials and new knowledge
      • provide access to CSKD via audio-video productions, website releases, hard copy text materials , and university and program unit publications ;develops reports on new developments of knowledge and research and presents them in biweekly business unit and other local and international workshops
      • marketing course system knowledge :identify potential course knowledge customers, propose them for trainings, consultation services and market course knowledge in the form of trainings, text and audio-video materials , and consultation to institutional problems

      Develop course deliverables

      • understand specific course customers needs ( in the case of training and customized educational programs)
      • design and deliver course hand book: develop appropriate and achievable course objectives and goals; decide the appropriate content to be covered and delivered to the specific batch of students; decide the modes of delivery, tasks and projects learners are expected to engage; develop new or review existing case studies, lecture materials, assignment and discussion questions, topics and themes for course events and sessions; develop guidelines and standards for the performance of tasks and production of academic deliverables by students, and delivery of events and sessions by course team ;develop and edit course guide/handbook with full details ;

      Deliver course

      • developing and providing course guide book to students in electronic and hardcopy formats; delivering orientations , live lectures ;delivering selected course events; evaluating and grading students performances
      • participates in question and answer sessions, course forums and outreach events
      • evaluating and grading academic deliverables/reports produced by students
      • computing student performances and developing and issuing certificates

      Conducting course level Evaluation

      • Design and administer student progress for the course
      • gather continues follow up reports form course advisors
      • arrange course review and evaluation sessions involving students, academics, industry, practitioners etc
      • gather and analyse relevant information
      • modify and update course content, modes of delivery ,support and consultation, and assessment practices in light of feedbacks and course objectives

      Leadership and management

      • identify capabilities and competencies of course team members, assign them tasks
      • evaluate their performances and recognize and praise best performance
      • develop training and education project initiatives to course team members
      • develop and provide standards, objectives, and expectation to course team members
      • listen and resolve conflicts and complaints form course team members and students
      • support ,consult and guide course team members
      • identify potential partnerships and collaborations with external and internal stakeholders
      • bargain and negotiate for resource development
      • evaluation and deciding course resource investments based on targets and goals
      • develop course strategic ,tactical, and operational plans,

      subject matter authority and representative

      • attend seminars, events, and sessions representing the course system
      • participate in program unit’s think –thank sessions, periodic program reviews, program unit evaluation and other sessions and provide consultation
      • deliver interviews to local and international media on issues related to subject matter
      • serve as opinion maker in her subject matter
      • edit and publish course articles and columns in program unit, university, and external publications and media
