College of Medicine and Health Sciences Holds Internal Quality Audit Review Workshop.

(June 24, 2022, Bahir Dar): Bahir Dar University College of Medicine and Health Sciences in collaboration with Jhpiego Ethiopia evaluated its Internal Academic Quality Audit Report that have been conducted for the last couple of months using the standards set by Education and Training Authority (ETA) in a workshop organized from June, 23-24, 2022 at Wisdom Hall.

The workshop commenced with a welcome speech of Professor Yeshigeta Gelaw, Chief Executive Director of College. In his opening remark, the professor underscored that the college has undertaken Internal Quality Audit with the aim of identifying gaps and enhance the quality thereby start the process of program accreditation. He averred that academic programs have to meet the quality standards to produce nationally and internationally competent, skillful, resourceful and entrepreneur graduates.

Facilitating the presentations and discussions, the Chief Academic and Research Director of the college, Dr. Melese Gebeyehu, set forth his views that evaluating the internal quality audit reports which have been carried out by different teams of academicians and researchers plays a huge role in identifying gaps that require interventions for improvement. He also noted that holding the workshop at this right time is helpful to incorporate enhancement plans for the year to come.

Then, the presentations of the audit report followed. The presentations helped the participants to know the gaps and quality enhancement plans, and hold constructive discussions in detail on each report.

The workshop ended with the professor’s remarks. He suggested that as the report and quality enhancement plan will help improve the internal process, it should also be presented and discussed at department level including the students. He reiterated that, most importantly, the enhancement plan should be incorporated to the 2022/23’s plan.
